Poppema, Marijke
Marijke is a Dutch artist, currently living close to her hometown in the city Groningen, Netherlands. She is thrilled to have her studio right at home with lots of natural light where she can spend hours and hours painting.
Traveling through Asia and living in Australia has had a huge influence in the way Marijke sees the world and travel continues to inspire her work. “I believe a strong foundation is important from where you can explore the world. Loosely holding your truth in one hand and a compass in the other. Art shows us anything is possible and it has the power to affect us deeply.”
Artist statement:
“The freedom to explore life in all its beauty and wonder is what inspires my artwork. I believe each and every one of us has a thirst to live an abundant life, authentic to who we are. My art is about self discovery, freedom and daring to go after what you truly desire. Through my art I want to show the unlimited potential in all of us and inspire everyone to follow their dreams.” - Marijke Poppema
Biographie
Discovering her talent in art by chance, during a workshop in 2016, ignited a fire inside of her. A little over a year later she had her first solo exhibition. Her thirst for a deeper understanding of art and herself inspired her to enroll in the mastery art program at the Milan Art Institute in 2021 from which she graduated in 2022.
